Job Details (DEPUTY DIRECTOR PUBLIC AND CORPORATE AFFAIRS)

The Public Service Commission invites suitably qualified Ugandans to fill the available vacancies in the Public Service. 1.  Mandatory Instructions to Applicants: -

 

a)         Apply ON-LINE.

b)         Scan and submit relevant documents on-line.

c)         Attach relevant documents namely; “O” and “A” Level Certificates, Bachelor’s Degree and Post Graduate Transcripts and Certificates as well as employment letters for posts where working experience is required.

d)         Each attachment must not exceed 1MB and only portable documents format (PDF) is allowed.

e)         Officers serving in the Public Service are required to print an Extract of PS Form 3 (2008) and obtain recommendation from the Responsible Officers.  Scan the recommendation together with the rest of the documents and submit online.

ii)             Click on “register as a new user” to create your account and complete your profile starting with the bio data moving downwards

iii)           If you already have an account, simply click on your right and update your profile

iv)           Click a Job from the list of advertised jobs in the menu.

v)             View the Job Details and Click “Apply now”

vi)           Review your application and SUBMIT.

 

3.   Please Note: -

 

a)             Only applications submitted on-line shall be considered.

 

b)             Only shortlisted candidates shall be contacted. 

c)             Shortlisted candidates during oral interviews shall be required to bring along with them their original certificates of “O” and “A” level, Degree and Post Graduate (where applicable) Transcripts and Certificates as well as letters of employment for positions where working experience is required plus National Identity Cards. 

d)            Short listed Officers serving in the Public Service should ensure that their Staff Performance Appraisal Reports / Forms for the last three (3) Financial Years are submitted to the Commission before the date of oral interviews.

Minimum Qualification
Applicants should be Ugandans in possession of an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication (Public Relations option); or Journalism; or any other related field from a recognized University / Institution plus a Masters Degree in Journalism; or Mass Communication. Applicants should also possess a minimum of a Post Graduate Diploma in Management or any other related course.
Working Experience
Applicants should have a minimum of nine (9) years working experience in Public relations, three (3) of which should have been gained at Assistant Commissioner or Head of Department level in Government or equivalent level from a reputable organization
Duties
The incumbent will be responsible to the Executive Director for performing the following duties:-

-       Developing annual public relations and communications workplans and coordinating their implementation in line with the approved budget

-       Developing, reviewing and updating the Public Relations and Communications policies of the Authority;

-       Planning, monitoring and coordinating implementation of the corporate social responsibility and corporate social investment activities of the Authority;

-       Representing the Authority at Local, Regional and International events so as to identify learning points and engage directors on the key issues identified in line with the Public Relations policies and procedures;

-       Receiving and reviewing complaints, responding to queries and advising stakeholders and making recommendations to the Executive Director in line with the Departmental policies and guidelines;

-       Managing performance and development of staff in the Department in line with Human Resource policies and the set performance objectives

-       Keeping close contact and watching the media houses on publications/ stories that may affect the reputation of the Authority;

-       Developing and monitoring implementation of programs aiming at promoting the Authority visibility among the public by proactively monitoring so as to ensure that the Authority’s events and achievements attract attention and publicity in the media;

-       Any other duties as may be assigned from timer to time
