1.0     Applications are invited from suitably qualified Ugandans to fill available vacancies in the Public Service. 1.1    Mandatory requirements for Applicants: -

c)     Each attachment must not exceed a limit of 1MB and only Portable Document Format (PDF) is allowed;

b)   Click and Register as a new User to create your account and complete your profile (starting with your bio data moving downwards).

c)     If you already have an account, simply sign in and update your profile.

d)     Click on Jobs, then Advertised Jobs in the menu.  Select the Advert to view the jobs therein.

e)     Click on the job from the list of advertised jobs.

f)      View the job details and click apply.

g)     Review your application and submit.

 

1.3    Emphasis: -

a)     Only on-line applications on the e-recruitment system will be considered.

b)     Only candidates shortlisted for written and/ or oral Interviews will be   contacted.

c)     Candidates shortlisted for oral interviews shall be required to bring along with them copies of original academic documents (“O” and “A” level Certificates, Degree Transcripts and Certificates) and a Valid National Identification Card.

d)     Applicants who shall not hear from the Public Service Commission on completion of the selection process should consider themselves unsuccessful.

Minimum Qualification
Applicants should be Ugandans holding; EITHER (i) An Honors Bachelor of Science Degree in Meteorology; or Atmospheric Science from a recognized University/Institution. (ii) A Post Graduate Qualification will be an added advantage. OR (i) An Honors Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics; or Mathematics; or Statistics; or Hydrology; or Computer Science; or Agriculture PLUS (ii) A Post-Graduate Diploma in Meteorology from a recognized University/ Institution.
Working Experience
Applicants should have a minimum of three (3) years relevant working experience at the level of Meteorologist in Government of from a reputable Organization.
Duties
The incumbent will be responsible to the Principal Meteorologist for performing the following duties:-

-        Preparing weather and climate forecasts and other relevant meteorological information for various stakeholders;

-        Developing and reviewing technical procedures for preparation and issuance of meteorological data, reports, information and services provided for aeronautical meteorological services;

-        Supervising preparation of quality climatology summaries, reports and tables;

-        Providing meteorological products and services at a high level of professional competence;

-        Receiving and archiving data from rainfall, climatology, agro meteorological, synoptic and other atmospheric monitoring stations;

-        Developing and testing computer programs for proper operations;

-        Coordinating with other Agencies in environmental, weather and climate awareness campaigns through the media, seminars and workshops;

-        Keeping abreast with and identifying suitable meteorological instruments, equipment, software for data processing and management;

-        Processing, analyzing and generating quality statistical summaries, publishing relevant weather bulletins and preparing suitable training materials;

-        Inspecting synoptic and climatological stations and taking action on their requirements;

-        Conducting and supervising research in Meteorology and Allied Sciences;

-        Supervising and appraising staff.

 

-        Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
