     Applications are invited from suitably qualified Ugandans to fill available vacancies in Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies. Minimum Qualification
Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognized university plus a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre. A Master’s Degree in the relevant field will be an added advantage. Applicants should have a Post Graduate qualification in Management and should be a Member to the relevant Professional Association.
Working Experience
Applicants should have a minimum of nine (9) years working experience in legal practice three (3) of which should have been gained at Assistant Commissioner or Head of Department level in Government or from a reputable organization.
Duties
The incumbent will be responsible to the Director Legal Services for performing the following duties:-

-       Defending KCCA in Courts of Law and any other fora in line with the KCCA Act, the HR manual and the Advocates guidelines;

-       Drafting legal documents and review draft legislation in accordance with management and council decisions;

-       Developing and reviewing strategies for the Authority’s litigation advocacy efforts and evaluate impact of the function on the departments work plan and objectives;

-       Negotiating out of court settlements on behalf of KCCA and generate reports in line with the HR Manual and professional guidelines;

-       Developing and reviewing the best practices for the litigation function in line with the professional guidelines and organizational procedures;

-       Providing technical and legal advice to management on all legal matters that arise out of the Authority transactions that KCCA engages in, in accordance with Management and Legal guidelines;

-       Managing the performance and development of staff under direct supervision in accordance with the Performance Management Guidelines.

 

-       Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
