2.The Common Cadre positions under Procurement Unit; Human Resource Unit; Accounts Unit and others have been reflected under the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development for purposes of this Advert. At the time of issuing Instruments of Appointment, such staff shall be reflected under their respective Parent Ministries in line with the existing Policies and Procedures.

Applicants should be Ugandans and duly appointed staff of Rural Electrification Agency holding holding an Honours Bachelor of Science Degree in either Forestry; or Biology; or Physical Sciences from a recognized University /Institution. Possession of a Master of Science Degree in Renewable Energy or any other related field from a recognized University / Institution will be an added advantage.
Working Experience
Applicants should have a minimum of three (3) years relevant working experience at the level of Energy Officer or equivalent level of relevant experience at Rural Electrification Agency or from a reputable organization.
The incumbent will be responsible to the Principal Energy Officer for performing the following duties:-

-       Conducting routine studies on the available potential for biomass resources from plant and animals waste, and develop a profile for development;

-       Promoting biofuel crop farming and tree planting to be used as raw material for biomass technologies;

-       Inspecting Small Medium Enterprises and Agro based industries to ensure use biomass efficient technologies;

-       Demonstrating the improved modern Bio energy technologies through installation of prototypes, demonstration systems, and technology transfers;

-       Encouraging and supporting training courses in secondary and tertiary institutions on how to build and use modern biomass energy technologies;

-       Conducting and mobilizing for meetings and support for biomass producers, marketers, and platform for stakeholder(s), among the charcoal producers, gasification, kiln makers and users to facilitate advocacy and collaborations;

-       Encouraging research and development on further improvement of the biomass technology, and the identification of suitable tree species for energy farming;

-       Strengthening collaboration between communities and key actors - specialized technicians, private investors, MDAs, training institutions, NGOs and CBOS to promote the role of farmers in the production of energy crops;

-       Preparing and submitting technical reports to Principal Energy Officer;

-       Supervising and appraising Energy Officers;

 -       Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
