Minimum Qualification
Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in either Commerce; or Economics; or Business Administration from a recognized University /Institution plus a Master’s Degree in either Commerce; or Economics; or Business Administration from a recognized University /Institution.
Working Experience
Applicants should have a minimum of seven (07) years working experience in the Trade and Commercial Sector, three (03) of which should have been gained at Principal or Middle Management level in Government or equivalent level of experience from a reputable organization.
The incumbent will be responsible to the Deputy Director Production and Marketing for performing the following duties:-

-        Coordinating the formulation and development of the sector strategic plans in line with the National priorities, Government Policies and frameworks;

-        Coordinating the delivery of business development services including Business Opportunity Identification, Business Counselling and Advisory Services; business planning; client accounting and book-keeping services; access to markets; access to finance among others;

-        Contributing to the design of programmes that enhance investment climate and SME growth and competitiveness;

-        Planning for, guiding and advising on the development of the commercial, industrial, SACCOs and related investments in the sector in urban areas;

-        Facilitating and overseeing delivery of quality services in the issuing of trading licenses and collection of revenue in accordance to the Laws of Uganda;

-        Guiding and advising the City Authority/Council Members on the interpretation, implementation and enforcement of policies and regulations on Trade, Industry, Marketing and SACCOS;

-        Designing mechanisms for attracting and supporting investments/investors in obtaining the necessary services and authorizations;

-        Designing mechanisms for collecting, monitoring, analyzing and disseminating business related data;

-        Developing strategic frameworks to manage, train, supervise and evaluate staff performance, in accordance with the Performance Management Guidelines;

-        Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
