VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT: CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER AND DEPUTY CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER, UGANDA TOURISM BOARD
The Public Service Commission was requested by the Uganda Tourism Board to undertake the recruitment and selection exercise for the positions of the Chief Executive Officer and Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Uganda Tourism Board.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified Ugandans to fill the posts as indicated below:-

BACKGROUND:
Uganda Tourism Board which is an equal opportunity employer is a a semi autonomous agency under the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities.
It is being managed in accordance with the Uganda Tourism Act 2008. The objectives of the Uganda Tourism Board are to:-
a) promote and contribute to the development of the Tourism Sector in Uganda;
b) coordinate with the Ministry and the private sector in the implementation of the national tourism policy;
carryout such activities as are incidental or conducive to the attainment of the objects specified in paragraph (a) and (b) above.
DUTY STATION: UGANDA TOURISM BOARD HEADQUARTERS
CONTRACT DURATION: Three (3) years. Renewable on satisfactory performace and mutual agreement.
PROBATION PERIOD: Six (6) Months
SUPERVISES: Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Marketing Manager, Finance and Planning Manager, Human Resource and Admin Manager, Manager Legal and Corporation Secretary, Senior Procurement Officer, Senior Public Relations Officer, Senior Internal Auditor [Administrativrly], Executive Assistant to the CEO
- Providing technical support to the Board, ensuring that Board resolutions are implemented;
- Soliciting advice and guidance from the Board of Directors on all matters of strategic importance;
- Developing and recommending to the Board of Directors strategies including annual business plans and operating budgets;
- Organizing on time and attending as Secretary, all Board and Committee meetings;
- Overseeing the drafting of the strategic plan and its review and providing strategic leadership to achieve the strategic goals as laid out in the strategic plan;
- Responsible for creating and communicating the organization’s vision, mission and overall direction and supervising all the Directors and evaluating the success of the organization in reaching its goals, making sure that each strategic goal is measurable and measured;
- Ensuring that stakeholders are served to satisfaction and that UTB has a good reputation through liaising with other entities including the Ministry responsible for Tourism on behalf of the Board;
- Carrying out the functions of an accounting officer as stipulated in Government rules and procedures;
- Overseeing the financial management of the institution ensuring that adequate resources are mobilized and effectively and efficiently used to achieve the organization’s strategic goals;
Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
