Job Details (ASSISTANT COMMISSIONER, CROP PRODUCTION )

b)        Scan, attach and submit On-line recent passport size photograph and relevant documents (O’ Level, A’ Level, Degree and Professional Documents, copies of letters of appointment, confirmation and promotion).

c)         Each attachment must not exceed a limit of 1MB and only portable documents format (PDF) is allowed.

d)        The passport should be less than 150KB and in the standard image formats i.e. JPGE, PNG or JPG.

e)        Print an Extract of PS Form 3 (2008) and obtain recommendation from the Responsible Officer.  Scan the recommendation together with the rest of the documents and submit online.

Minimum Qualification
Applicants should be Ugandans in possession of an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural/Crop Science/Agricultural Economics, plus a minimum of Post Graduate Diploma in any of the above fields from a recognised University/Institution. Possession of a Post Graduate qualification in Management related field from a recognised University/Institution will be an added advantage.
Working Experience
Applicants should have a minimum of nine (9) years working experience in handling issues of agronomy and crop management, three (3) of which should have been at Principal Agricultural Officer level in Government or equivalent level of experience from a reputable organisation.
Duties
The incumbent will be responsible to the Commissioner Crop Production for performing the following duties:-

-  Providing  technical guidance in formulation, review and implementation of policies, standards, plans and strategies on crop production;

-  Guiding  the transfer of improved and appropriate crop production technologies to service providers;

-  Establishing and operationalizing   collaboration mechanisms with the meteorological department and national, regional and international food and agricultural surveillance institutions and organisations for early warning on climate;

-  Providing quality assurance on good agricultural practices and advisory services on crop production;

-  Building capacity  of service providers on crop production;

-  Guiding the provision of improved seed and planting materials and sustainable use of natural resources;

-  Developing and guiding the implementation of programmes for integration of the youth in crop production;

-  Carrying out research at national, regional and international level in crop development and production activities for improved security and development;

-  Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
