Job Details (PRINCIPAL VETERINARY INSPECTOR ANIMAL MOVEMENT CONTROL )

Applications are invited from suitably, qualified, serving Public Officers in      Ministries/Departments/Agencies and Local Governments to fill vacant posts.  Applications   should be filled not later than Friday 29/3/2019. Applicants should visit   https://vacancies.psc.go.ug/ors  to apply.

b)        Scan, attach and submit On-line recent passport size photograph and relevant documents (O’ Level, A’ Level, Degree and Professional Documents, copies of letters of appointment, confirmation and promotion).

c)         Each attachment must not exceed a limit of 1MB and only portable documents format (PDF) is allowed.

d)        The passport should be less than 150KB and in the standard image formats i.e. JPGE, PNG or JPG.

e)        Print an Extract of PS Form 3 (2008) and obtain recommendation from the Responsible Officer.  Scan the recommendation together with the rest of the documents and submit online.

Minimum Qualification
Applicants should be Ugandans in possession of an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Medicine or related field plus a Post Graduate Diploma in Veterinary Medicine or related Science discipline from a recognized University/Institution.
Working Experience
Applicants should have six (6) years relevant working experience in the field of Veterinary Medicine, three (3) of which should have been at the level of Senior Veterinary Officer in Government or equivalent level of experience from a reputable organization.
Duties
The incumbent will be responsible to the Assistant Commissioner, Veterinary Regulation and Enforcement for performing the following duties:-

-       Initiating the formulation and reviewing national veterinary policies, regulations and standards in animal health, veterinary public health, animal welfare, food safety and professional veterinary ethics;

-       Developing national strategies and plans for enforcement of the veterinary legislation, regulations and standards;

-       Designing programmes for creation of awareness in the population on veterinary legislation, regulations and standards;

-       Identifying, developing  strategic animal quarantine infrastructure in the country;

-       Establishing  systems for the identification and traceability of live animals and their products;

-       Enforcing compliance to animal health regulations and standards by use of inland quarantine facilities, ports of entry/exit, animal check points and Zonal Veterinary Inspection offices;

-       Carrying out animal health and veterinary public health risk analysis to guide import/export and internal live animal/animal products movements in the country;

-       Preparing and presenting reports  on regulations and enforcement;

-       Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
