PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION

 

Applications are invited from suitably qualified, serving Public Officers in Ministries/Departments/Agencies and Local Governments to fill vacant posts.  Application Forms/Public Service Form No.3 (2008) should be filled ON-LINE not later than 18 May, 2018.  The link to the e-recruitment system can be accessed via the Public Service Commission website www.psc.go.ug .

a)    Apply ON-LINE.

b)    Scan, attach and submit relevant documents (‘O Level, ‘A Level, Degree and Professional Documents, copies of letters of appointment, confirmation and promotion) On-line.

c)    Each attachment must not exceed a limit of 1MB and only portable documents format (PDF) is allowed.

d)    Print an Extract of PS Form 3 (2008) and obtain recommendation from the Responsible Officer.  Scan the recommendation together with the rest of the documents and submit online.

Minimum Qualification
Applicants should be Ugandans in possession of an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Fisheries or Zoology or Aquatic or Biological Science plus a minimum of a Post Graduate Diploma in the above fields from a recognized University/Institution
Working Experience
Applicants should have six (6) years of relevant working experience in the field of Fisheries Management and Development, three (3) of which should have been served at Senior Officer level in Government or equivalent level of experience from a reputable organization.
Duties
The incumbent will be responsible to the Assistant Commissioner Quality Assurance and Safety for performing the following duties:-

-      Developing plans for taking samples and testing the quality of water, fish and fish products;

-      Implementing procedures for laboratory testing of samples before certification;

-      Reviewing and updating laboratory manuals to ensure high level of professionalism; 

-      Analyzing samples and keeping records of analysis reports;

-      Carrying out internal calibrations and follow-up for external calibration

-      Providing technical support to facilitate prompt procurement of consumables, reagents and media;

-      Following up on the laboratory accreditation by SANAS;

-      Preparing a quarterly status report;  

-      Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
