c)         Each attachment must not exceed a limit of 1MB and only portable documents format (PDF) is allowed.

d)        The passport should be less than 150KB and in the standard image formats i.e. JPGE, PNG or JPG.

e)        Print an Extract of PS Form 3 (2008) and obtain recommendation from the Responsible Officer.  Scan the recommendation together with the rest of the documents and submit online.

Minimum Qualification
Applicants should be Ugandans in possession of an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognized University/Institution plus a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre.
Working Experience
Applicants should have a minimum of six (6) years relevant working experience three (3) of which should have been served at the level of Senior State Attorney in Government or equivalent level of experience from a reputable organisation. Duty Station: Regional offices based in Arua, Gulu, Moroto, Mbale, Mbarara and Fort Portal.
Duties
The incumbent will be responsible to the Commissioner First Parliamentary Counsel/Civil Litigation/Legal Advisory Services for performing the following duties:-

The incumbent will be responsible to the Commissioner First Parliamentary Counsel/Civil Litigation/Legal Advisory Services for performing the following duties:-

 

-       Participating in drafting and ensuring publicity of Acts of Parliament, Bills, Bye-laws and Ordinances;

-       Participating in preparing amendments to Bills,  Statutory Instruments Regulations, Rules, By laws, Legal Notices and resolutions of Parliament;

-       Providing technical guidance and advice to Government, Local Governments and/or other public bodies in interpretation of existing laws and proposed laws;

-       Assisting in preparation of cabinet Memorada and Bills for drafting of new or amending existing legislation;

-       Verifying and helping  Local Governments in drafting Ordinances and Bylaws;

-       Representing  and litigating for Governments and other Government Institutions in courts of law and in any other legal proceedings to which Government is a party;

-       Providing legal advice to central and / or Local Governments on legal matters including Contracts, dispute, procurements labour etc;

-       Carrying out functions of Administrator General in Local Governments;

-       Representing the Solicitor General as Justice, Law, Order Sector (JLOS) lead Sector and coordinating Districts Chain linked committees;

-       Supervising work teams and overseeing provisions for guidance on legal matters relating to civil litigation, legal advisory, administration of estates, contracts, legal drafting and interpretation;

-       Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
