Applications are invited from suitably qualified, serving Public Officers in Ministries/Departments/Agencies and Local Governments to fill vacant posts.  Application Forms/Public Service Form No.3 (2008) should be filled ON-LINE not later than 18 May, 2018.  The link to the e-recruitment system can be accessed via the Public Service Commission website www.psc.go.ug .

b)    Scan, attach and submit relevant documents (‘O Level, ‘A Level, Degree and Professional Documents, copies of letters of appointment, confirmation and promotion) On-line.

c)    Each attachment must not exceed a limit of 1MB and only portable documents format (PDF) is allowed.

d)    Print an Extract of PS Form 3 (2008) and obtain recommendation from the Responsible Officer.  Scan the recommendation together with the rest of the documents and submit online.

Minimum Qualification
Applicants should be Ugandans in possession of an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture or Crop Science from a recognized University. Possession of a Post Graduate Diploma in any of the above fields from a recognized university/Institution will be added advantage.
Working Experience
Applicants should have three (3) years of relevant working experience in the field of agriculture or crop science, served at Officer Level in Government or equivalent level of experience from a reputable organization.
Duties
The incumbent will be responsible to the Principal Agricultural Officer, Food Crop for performing the following duties:-

-       Promoting increased production of grains and pulses by encouraging farmers to use improved quality seeds;

-       Liaising with District Authorities in monitoring and quality assuring  the operations of extension staff in demonstrations and training farmers on adoption of new crop production technologies;

-       Encouraging and supporting adoption of improved farming systems such as crop rotation, mixed farming and forestry activities to maintain soil fertility;

-       Providing technical support to local governments on improving the production of quality food crops for both domestic consumption and surplus for sale;

-       Liaising with expertise in the Ministry and other stakeholders to adopt better methods for post harvest handling and storage for grains and pulses;

-       Preparing regular reports from District submissions on monitoring trends of production technologies;

-       Preparing work plans and budgets for food crops development and extension programs and submitting them to relevant authorities;

-       Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
