Applications are invited from suitably qualified Ugandans who have been serving under the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) under Contract Terms and are going to be formally mainstreamed in the Department of Rural Electrification in the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development.

NOTE:

 

1.      ONLY Staff of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) are eligible to respond to this Advertisement.

 

2.The Common Cadre positions under Procurement Unit; Human Resource Unit; Accounts Unit and others have been reflected under the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development for purposes of this Advert. At the time of issuing Instruments of Appointment, such staff shall be reflected under their respective Parent Ministries in line with the existing Policies and Procedures.

Minimum Qualification
Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences; or Social Work and Social Administration; or Development Studies; or Counselling and Guidance from a recognized University /Institution. Possession of a Post Graduate Diploma in any of the above fields will be an added advantage.
Working Experience
Applicants should have a minimum of three (3) years relevant working experience, which should have been served at the level of Social Development Officer or equivalent level of relevant experience at Rural Electrification Agency or from a reputable organization.
Duties
The incumbent will be responsible to the Principal Social Development Officer for performing the following duties:-

-       Participating in the preparation of Resettlement Action Plans (RAP) and Social Impact Assessments;

-       Carrying out community outreach, sensitization and mobilization to ensure that the Resettlement Action Plans, Social Impact Assessment processes and Social safeguards are well implemented;

-       Reviewing Social Impact Assessment, Social Management Plans and Resettlement Action Plans of Ministry Projects and ensuring that social issues are comprehensively addressed;

-       Carrying out post Resettlement Action Plans (RAP) and Social audit to ensure that all the social impacts are addressed;

-       Monitoring and reporting on the implementation of social safeguards undertaken periodically in all Ministry initiatives;

-       Preparing appropriate information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials for sensitization of the affected communities;

-       Identifying potential sources of grievances, design and implement appropriate grievance redress mechanism;

-       Providing technical guidance to stakeholders in regard to safeguard policy statements, guidelines, procedures and best practices for the Ministry;

 -       Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
