-        Working with individuals to improve mental health;

-        Encouraging children to discuss emotions and experiences;

-        Examining issues including substance abuse, bullying, anger management, careers, depression, relationships, self-image, stress and suicide;

-        Helping children define goals, plan action and gain insight;

-        Developing therapeutic processes;

-        Taking a holistic (mind and body) approach to mental health care;

-        Listening to children’s concerns, empathizing with them and helping them to see things more clearly or in a different way;

-        Diagnosing children’s mental and emotional disorders;

-        Creating effective treatment plan that includes counselling, medication or other services;

-        Recording the progress and changing their treatment plan when needed;

-        Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
