Job Details (SUPERVISOR PUBLIC TRANSPORT)

Mandatory Instructions to Applicants: -

c)         Each attachment must not exceed a limit of 1MB and only portable documents format (PDF) is allowed.

d)         Print an Extract of PS Form 3 (2008) and obtain recommendation from the Responsible Officers.  Scan the recommendation together with the rest of the documents and submit online.

e)         Where the designated recommending Officer/Responsible Officer is reluctant or declines to provide a recommendation, the applicant should clearly indicate the reason(s) on the extract of PSC Form 3 (2008) and submit it online without the recommendation

f)          Falsification of documents will lead to automatic disqualification.

Minimum Qualification
Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honors Bachelor's Degree in either Transport Planning; or Transport Engineering from a recognized University /Institution plus a minimum of a Post Graduate qualification in either Transport/Traffic Engineering or any other relevant course from a recognized University/Institution. Applicants must be registered with the relevant professional body.
Working Experience
Applicants should have a minimum of 5 years relevant working experience, three (3) of which must have been gained at Senior or Supervisory level in Government or from a reputable organization.
Duties
The incumbent will be responsible to the Manager Transport Planning and Strategy for performing the following duties:-

·      Developing public transport plans, policies, and procedures for the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area (GKMA);

·      Developing and implementing modernization programs for public transport including smart ticketing and passenger information and strategies to encourage public transport patronage;

·      Assessing road safety status of junctions, signals, pedestrian crossings, cycle lanes and designing improvement measures;

·      Coordinating and monitoring adherence to the street parking regulations and policies within the GKMA.

·      Developing integrated non-motorized transport linkages to public transport;

·      Preparing preliminary transport plans, design calculations, cost estimations and recommendations in line to engineering practices and standards;

·      Monitoring          traffic flow and condition, investigating  traffic problems and recommending strategies to improve traffic flow and safety;

·      Leading and evaluating sensitization and education of road safety to the community;

·      Undertaking road safety audits for traffic improvement schemes;

·      Modernizing existing public transport services and terminal infrastructure;

·      Managing performance and development of   staff under the direct supervision as per the Human Resource Performance Management Policy;

·      Developing preliminary engineering treatments to determine construction feasibility and estimated costs;

 

·      Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
