Job Details (DESIGN ASSISTANT )

Mandatory Instructions to Applicants: -

 

a)         Apply ON-LINE.

b)         Scan and submit relevant documents (‘O’ and A’ Level Result Slips and Certificates, Bachelor’s Degree and Post Graduate Transcripts and Certificates, Professional Documents, copies of letters of appointment, confirmation and promotion) on-line.

c)         Each attachment must not exceed a limit of 1MB and only portable documents format (PDF) is allowed.

d)         Print an Extract of PS Form 3 (2008) and obtain recommendation from the Responsible Officers.  Scan the recommendation together with the rest of the documents and submit online.

e)         Where the designated recommending Officer/Responsible Officer is reluctant or declines to provide a recommendation, the applicant should clearly indicate the reason(s) on the extract of PSC Form 3 (2008) and submit it online without the recommendation

f)          Falsification of documents will lead to automatic disqualification.

Minimum Qualification
Applicants should be Ugandans holding a Diploma in either Engineering Design; or Building Design; or Architecture; or Construction Management from a recognized University / Institution.
Working Experience
Applicants should have a minimum of one (1) years relevant working experience in a relevant field
Duties
The incumbent will be responsible to the Officer Architectural Services for performing the following duties:-

·      Checking if all the projects and designs follow the design and safety standards;

·      Keeping the authorities informed about any modifications in the architectural layout and also about the completion of projects;

·      Disbursing materials to the Architectural team and maintaining records of stock remaining in the store in line with stores management guidelines;

·      Monitoring allocated project’s compliance with current legislation and statutory requirements i.e. planning, building regulations, Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), Health and Safety regulations and seeking all the necessary approvals and consents;

·      Representing the Architectural team as requested at public meetings, client meetings and ascertain that good professional relationships are maintained;

·      Undertaking measured surveys of buildings and produce Computer Aided Design (CAD) plans, ensuring that accurate and up to date records and attributing information (asset data, condition) are electronically updated onto the KCCA’s Asset Information Systems;

·      Contributing to the development of the Property Services Team, including recommending improvements to working practices, constructive problems solving, coaching other team members;

·      Monitoring and auditing work carried out by contractors in order to ensure that it is of the required standards;

·      Administering projects during the construction phase, ensuring that information is available to enable projects to be completed on time and within budget and maintaining good working relations with all involved;

·      Providing the professional expertise to achieve appropriate design solutions within agreed objectives and within the given timescales;

·      Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
