The Secretary, Public Service Commission would like to inform all eligible Serving Officers in Government Ministries, Departments and Local Governments that some corrections have been effected in the above Advert. Some positions have been withdrawn and new positions have been added to the Advert as indicated below.

 

Applicants who have been affected by corrections effected in the Advert are encouraged to apply for other positions for which they meet the qualifications. The deadline for submission of applications under addendum (PSC Internal Advert No.2 of 2024) has been therefore, extended to 31st May 2024. d) Print an Extract of PS Form 3 (2008) and obtain recommendation from the Responsible Officers.  Scan the recommendation together with the rest of the documents.

Minimum Qualification
Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering; or any other water related sciences. A Masters Degree in Water Engineering; or any other water related field from a recognized University/Institution is a must. He or she should be registered with the Uganda Engineers Registration Board A post graduate qualification in Management and or Administration will be an added advantage
Working Experience
Applicants should have a minimum of nine (9) years relevant working experience, three (3) of which should have been served at Principal Officer level in Government
Duties
The incumbent will be responsible to the Commissioner, Water Quality Management for performing the following duties:-

- Leading planning, coordination and facilitation of periodic reviews and improvements to the policy, legal and institutional frameworks for water quality management in Uganda;

- Leading development, review and updating of water quality management plans, including interventions for national disasters and emergencies;

- Leading the coordination, monitoring and assessment of the quality of the country’s water resources and dissemination of information to all users;

- Leading the setting and review of standards/guidelines, inspection, supervision, budgeting and reporting on water quality matters in the country;

- Supervising operation and maintenance of the National Reference and Regional Laboratories for water quality analysis;

- Facilitating contingency planning for water quality related emergencies;

- Providing and disseminating, technical advice to Government and other stakeholders on water quality management matters in the country;

- Coordinating programmes and projects on water quality management in Uganda;

- Providing advice to the Weather Prediction Centre and Water and Sanitation Sector Working Group on water quality management;

- Serving as a technical focal point on trans-boundary/regional water quality issues integration and harmonization of protocols and standards;

- Leading implementation of the National Water Quality Management Strategy;

- Any other duties that may assigned from time to time.
