The Secretary, Public Service Commission would like to inform all eligible Serving Officers in Government Ministries, Departments and Local Governments that some corrections have been effected in the above Advert. Some positions have been withdrawn and new positions have been added to the Advert as indicated below.

 

Applicants who have been affected by corrections effected in the Advert are encouraged to apply for other positions for which they meet the qualifications. The deadline for submission of applications under addendum (PSC Internal Advert No.2 of 2024) has been therefore, extended to 31st May 2024. d) Print an Extract of PS Form 3 (2008) and obtain recommendation from the Responsible Officers.  Scan the recommendation together with the rest of the documents.

Minimum Qualification
Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Medicine (BVM) or Animal Production Technology and Management or science degree in Agriculture (Animal Production) from a recognized university/institution. Must have a master of science degree in any of the above specified fields from a recognized university/institution. A post graduate qualification in management or administration will be an added advantage. Veterinary Officers should be registered and licensed by the Uganda Veterinary Board.
Working Experience
Applicants should have a minimum of nine (9) years relevant working experience in the field of veterinary medicine or animal science with a bias in livestock production or Agricultural Engineering or Agriculture three (3) of which should have been served at the level of Principal Officer level in Government.
Duties
The incumbent will be responsible to the Commissioner, Animal Production for performing the following duties:-

-        Planning, supervising and co-ordinating animal feeds and feeding development programmes for fences farms, ranches and communal grazing systems including pastoralism;

-        In liaison with Ministry of Water and Environment, Lands, Housing and Urban Development, advising on development of water resources, grazing reserves and rangelands for livestock;

-        Giving the District Production Officers support in planning, supervision and monitoring of animal nutrition, forage development and rangeland programs;

-        Giving advice on animal feeds’ management and feeding;

-        Regulating production, distribution of animal feeds and premixes;

-        Handling environmental issues related to land utilization for animal production;

-        Monitoring and evaluating staff performance;

-        Ensuring staff training as may be required;

-        Coordinating formulation and regulations relevant in animal nutrition, forage production and rangeland management;

-        Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
